Win A Copy Of Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead DVD

by on June 11, 2013

(Watch trailer above)

I have some awesome prize packs to share with you today! It comes from the team behind Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (the movie).

Synopsis: Joe Coss is a man who was fed up with being overweight and feeling terrible. He knew there was something really wrong with feeling this way. He realized that he was eating the wrong foods and if he didn’t change his lifestyle, processed foods were going to be the end of him. He left his home country of Australia and decided to embark on a healing journey in the land of the USA and find out what was wrong with the Western Diet. He found amazing benefits from going on a 60 day juice fast and drank nothing but fresh pressed juice every day!

To date, the audience of Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead has lost more than 6 million pounds and consumed more than 93 million glasses of fresh juice. I watched this documentary for the first time on Netflix back In January 2013, but I had heard a lot of positive reviews about it previously. And while the title might make you wonder what kind of documentary this is, let me tell you it is a great story and has a very positive message. There’s nothing scary or graphic in it at all. It shows the amazing journey of not just one, but two men through juicing themselves back to health.

Congratulations to Stacey and Stephanie who won the 2 prize packs!

For the 2nd Anniversary Celebration, the team at Reboot With Joe has given me some goodies to share with you!

It looks interesting!

2 Robbin Sheltren June 13, 2013 at 12:28 PM

I love this movie. It is proof positive that you can change your health for the positive yourself. It is a constant battle to confront the food industry as we try to preserve our health. “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” makes it so much easier. The work that Joe and others do give us hope that we can take charge of our health. Even though I have gotten this movie from the library, I could share my own copy with friends and relatives.

I have been vegan for a couple years now and I would never think of going back. Some of my family is open to benefits of a plant-based diet and some are still very dubious. When I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead I felt an immediate connection with Joe and his story. Some of his experiences are like my own and some remind me of the struggles that my mother and father are still going through. I just know if they could see Joe’s remarkable and inspirational transformation, that they would begin to see the connections between their lifestyle choices and their health. I’m running out of options to help them reconsider their lives… I can’t watch them go through this any longer…

4 Catherine Johnston June 13, 2013 at 6:26 AM

I love this movie and its message. Both men are so inspiring! I have family members all over the country who keep asking me for advice on how to get healthy (I made serious changes — low fat, vegan in January and have seen an incredible change in my health) and I would LOVE to be able to lend them this video. I want everyone I love to have access to the information that helped me change my life. Thanks for all you do!

Here in Iceland, the diet is mosty lamb and fish and for some years now I have been weening my family onto more fruits and veggies but sometimes my husband and elder son would bang the table with their knives and forks shouting “Where’s the meat? Where’s the meat?” in a funny but half serious manner.

Recently this son has been asking me not to have so much meat in the family diet and have more vegetarian options, so there is hope is site πŸ™‚

I am curious about this concept of a juice diet. I would have thought that it would have been more healthy to eat the whole fruit and vegetable for more roughage. I have a wee bit of a constipation problem sometimes and worry that a juice diet would not have enough roughage to “clean me out”. Even if I don’t win this package I would welcome any advice and titbits of knowledge you might have Veronica. Another problem I have is that the varieties of fruits and especially vegetables is very limited in Iceland. I have been trying to find kale and as yet have not found it, but hope to go to a specialist shop next time I am in Reykjavik.

I used to be like the man in the video, very overweight and walking with crutches as my knees were so bad. I have lost 18kg and my crutches are gone but still got 15kg to go. Most of my fat in on my belly, you know the “pregnant ” look” πŸ™‚ Any advice on getting rid of that would be wonderful.

LoVe to you all. Pauline

Greetings from London – We do not have Fat Sick & nearly dead available here yet, but need it badly as the standard British diet is as SAD as the US Standard American Diet and our rates of obesity are rising dramatically and diseases such as diabetes threaten to bankrupt our free at the point of delivery National Health Service that we all hold so dear. I am working hard to be a role model for the wholefood plant based diet lifestyle and give/lend out books and materials to friends, family and colleagues to spread the word. All the best from a rather grey and cloudy June day here in South London!

7 Michelle June 12, 2013 at 9:59 PM

I have been vegan for about 2 years now and haven’t been able to convince the rest of my family that they should follow this lifestyle. It would be great to show them this video to encourage them to adopt a plant-based lifestyle.

8 Enzinna Arguijo June 12, 2013 at 9:40 PM

This movie changed my life, period. I watched it 4 months ago and I started a plant based diet and have felt so much better ever since. I too have an auto immune diseased liver so I could closely relate to the guy in the movie. I have recommended this movie to everyone I have met that is unhealthy, tired and over-weight. Would just love to win a pack so that I could bring it to work and share it using our DVD player during our lunch hour.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!!

9 Lee June 12, 2013 at 9:40 PM

What a wonderful give away. I would like to win because I am the only vegan that I know. I live in cow country and people think something is very wrong with you if you don’t eat meat and lots of it. I am ask at each and every meal if I want some meat, eggs, milk or cheese. Any encouragement is greatly appreciated.

10 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 12, 2013 at 10:48 PM

I know how you feel, my hometown of Calgary, AB is nicknamed Cow Town and is very beef centric.

11 Amy June 12, 2013 at 7:06 PM

Amazing giveaway! My family has eaten a plant based diet for 4 years now. I have so many people that ask us for help and ideas and reasons to eat this way. They also want us to have support meetings for them. I would love to have this information to show at these meetings we are planning. What an inspiration and encouragement that would be for them. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win!

12 MissLissa June 12, 2013 at 6:11 PM

I am ready to NOT BE Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead!

13 donna June 12, 2013 at 5:56 PM

Wow, I sure could use that information. what an inspiration.

14 Raychel June 12, 2013 at 5:55 PM

I would love to win a copy of this documentary to finally see it for myself and share it with family and friends!

15 Kim June 12, 2013 at 5:30 PM

Thank you for the offer. This year I have been newly diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and high blood pressure and now depression. I can not seem to get going in the right direction. My doctor has started me now on insulin and thinks low carb is the way to go. My husband who has been laid off now for 6 months is not at all supportive and himself is a diabetic as well. I purchesed Dr Furhman’s book as well as your vegan starter pack cookbooks. I have seen this movie on Netflix along with some others however, it would be awesome to have something to watch as a constant reminder of how good the vegan lifestyle is. I also want to say how much I loved the cook books in your starter packet. Thanks for all the hard work you do to help us become healthy!!

16 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 12, 2013 at 10:49 PM

You’re very welcome Kim! Happy to help. Low carb is definitely not the way to go for diabetes, low fat, whole foods plant based works much better.

17 Sandra June 12, 2013 at 5:06 PM

I would love to give this dvd to my brother and sister in law who need to see this and follow it! I don’t want them to end up the title of this dvd!

18 Marilyn June 12, 2013 at 4:20 PM

I have many people who ask me I keep so slim, and I would love to be able to lend this video. I love sharing with people ways to eat more healthy! And it would be a great addition to my already growing library of Veronica Stuff!! Love Love Love your recipes.

19 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 12, 2013 at 4:33 PM

Thank you Marilyn! I’m glad you’re enjoying them. πŸ™‚

20 Rosemary June 12, 2013 at 4:18 PM

My BFF of 45 years is obese. A combination of medication, over eating, wrong foods, alcohol and lack of exercise. He is a carnivore. I try very hard to get him eating healthy. I lead him towards topics on obesity, to no avail. He is a sweet gentle man, but he just doesn’t seem to see the problem. I’m at my wits end. Maybe if he had this DVD he might see the light.

21 Annette June 12, 2013 at 4:08 PM

I would love to win this because it will help to keep me motivated and I will share with my friends/family to help them stay motivated.

22 Jessie June 12, 2013 at 4:01 PM

I have breast cancer and my naturopath says eating vegan/low fat is the most important change I could make to beat this long term. I am trying but sure could use the encouragement winning the Fat, Sick and Almost Dead pack would bring. Thank you for this opportunity.

23 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:03 PM

I wish you the very best of luck Jessie. I know Dr. John McDougall has helped many women overcome breast cancer with his plant based diet, many of my recipes follow his guidelines.

24 Joan June 12, 2013 at 3:53 PM

I would love to win either offer! My husband and I as well as many friends and family could really benefit from this information … if I win, I will definitely share!

25 Karen June 12, 2013 at 3:37 PM

My husband joined me on my low fat vegan diet for Lent 2013 and is getting slimmer every week. I know Joe Cross’ Fat Sick and Nearly Dead dvd could inspire him to reach his target weight and maintain our healthy diet. We are senior citizens and I can assure you that the older you get the more you value your health!

26 Kenneth June 12, 2013 at 3:28 PM

I am part of the fat sick and nearly dead and looking for way out.

27 Joan June 12, 2013 at 2:23 PM

My pilates instructor convinced me to try a vegan diet which she had converted to 2-3 years earlier. I was training with my 2 daughters and 2 neices for a Spartan race….we had little time and i had to drop as much weight as I could. 1 week before the race I was still struggling to lose any weight, so i made the switch. It was effortless, honestly Im an all or nothing kind of person and I absolutely love cooking especially with cheese. I was scared. I purchased the fat vegan chef books and started cooking. Everything I have made so far was delicious, lasagna, fettucini alfredo, soups, artichoke and spinach arborio, spaghetti sauce, etc. I am feeding myself, my daughters, and my parents as well. We all love meat, seafood, cheese, but we are all enjoying this to the max!! I did not intend on living vegan for the rest of my life….guess what im a convert! and i love the way I feel 8 pounds lost….effortlessly!

28 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:04 PM

Amazing Joan! Congratulations on your success!

29 Bob June 12, 2013 at 2:05 PM

I was inspired decades ago to begin changing my diet. This man showed his audience what a difference a good diet can make. Despite the fact he was not vegan, not even vegetarian he did emphasize the importance of eating plentiful fruits and vegetables and minimizing processed foods. A series of books and speakers followed each prompting me to take one more step. This video featuring Joe and his journey shows just how powerful diet can be. I feel it can be a powerful motivator to continue my health journey and acknowledge the impact on the quality of life that our food choices has.

30 Tara June 12, 2013 at 1:56 PM

I am a beginner at the vegan lifestyle. I was first motivated to it for the health of my children and family and have been trying to influence others toward it as well. However, I find that if others around me are not on board or if I stray back to old habits, it is very difficult for me to continue. Yet every time I am reminded of the truth of what the bad eating is doing to my body and my family’s health as well, it helps me get back on track. This DVD, which I have not yet seen, may help me to drill the truth back into my mind and motivate me for the right reasons again, not just weight loss, but overall well being. Thanks for the opportunity, Veronica, and thanks for making it just a little easier to stay on track with your recipes and blogs!

31 katie engst June 12, 2013 at 1:08 PM

I was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. I did not do the traditional treatment but went on a raw vegan diet for 3 yrs. I am cancer free but have gone off the diet and feeling aweful. Its been really hard to get back on. I know I need to do this to keep the cancer from coming back. I need some encouragement. I have seen the movie and it was great so I’d really like to have this free copy to get me back on track. Please help

32 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:05 PM

Happy to hear you overcame cancer, keep positive and try to inspire yourself every day to make something delicious and healthy that you will enjoy eating. πŸ™‚

33 Dana June 12, 2013 at 1:04 PM

I’m a 17 year old vegetarian (almost vegan) college student. I live on my own (I study abroad) and I could use any help to improve my lifestyle and live happily and healthily forever. πŸ™‚ People who are close to my heart are not exactly doing the right things, and the differences between me and them are obvious, but they still disagree with my lifestyle and think it’s a waste of time and is just another useless thing I do. I want as much knowledge as I can ever have to improve my lifestyle and hopefully inspire people someday. I know I’m young and still have a lot of opportunities but this really sounds perfect to me. I am a vegetarian geek and I hate to be missing out on anything. I would really appreciate some motivation to stick to what I believe in and prove myself. So, may one of the prize packs be mine. πŸ™‚

34 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:05 PM

I know how you feel! I went raw vegan in high school and it’s very hard when you feel your family is against you and you are the only one. Hang in there!

35 Carol June 12, 2013 at 12:09 PM

I am trying to eat more healthily after surviving Stage 4 colon cancer at age 50. I think these prize packages would give me valuable information as I continue my journey toward a healthy life.

36 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:06 PM

So happy to hear this, all the best in the future.

37 Marcia June 12, 2013 at 12:08 PM

Thank you for sharing the information about Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead with us. I, too, had not heard about this until YOU brought it to my attention. After reading all the posts from others, I see that even though I need to do something about my life (2 medications for Diabetes but it’s still not under control, 3 meds for high blood pressure, and I recently started taking an anti-depressant which has caused me to gain more weight), I saw many others who need to win this prize even more. Don’t get me wrong, I would be thrilled if I won, but even if I am not selected, I have won something just by being introduced to this movie. Thank you Veronica, keep up the good work!

38 Lynn in MD June 12, 2013 at 11:31 AM

My father & father-in-law are very obese and the latter was recently diagnosed with diabetes. They regularly attempt to diet, lose a little weight, lose interest, and end up fatter and unhealthier than ever. I’m hoping that seeing a video like this could help inspire them to get healthy!

39 Tracy June 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM

I have seen the video but can’t seem to get my hubby to watch or come on board. I would love to actually own the video and if needed duck tape him to his seat and make him watch. (Just kidding…kinda) Anyway, we are now grandparents (young ones) and grandchildren are the absolute best and I want for both of us to be around for a very long time!!!!

40 Debra June 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM

I have been a vegetarian/vegan 43 years…however I found the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead DVD so very inspiring! Joe came across so honest and the way he connected with folks all over the United States inspires me to be stronger and to try harder for myself and to be a good role model for others. I have told many people about the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead DVD and would love a copy to not only share with them but to watch it periodically, especially before each juice feast!!!

41 Annie June 12, 2013 at 11:24 AM

I love watching any documentary about health (Hungry for change, Bottled up etc) that would help me be a better wife and mom for our 3 kids. I got a Vitamix and dehydrator last year and love to try new things in the kitchen for health and fun!!

42 Cindy June 12, 2013 at 11:11 AM

Hi! I love your newsletter and you inspire me! I was like Joe before I ever heard of his movie, overweight and sickly and if I stayed on the same path probably dead at an early age. Now I make healthy nutritious drinks everyday for myself and my family. I am 51 and can pass for 35 thanks to my diet.

I am in the process of starting my own business that will offer people an alternative to unhealthy fast food and restaurant food that is high in sodium and generally unhealthy! My concept is innovative, gluten free, organic or all natural, vegan and vegetarian friendly and has never been done anywhere in the world! I plan to offer nutritious drinks on my menu and I will play this DVD to educate people while they wait! Thank you for inspiring me and keep up the good work!

43 Doris June 12, 2013 at 10:58 AM

I would love to have some help from Joe any way I can. I tried to do this on my own by downloading his recipes and following them but failed. I really need help, and I guess on a one on one basis. If at all possible please help me, would be sooooo grateful!!!!

44 Joanne June 12, 2013 at 10:49 AM

I have an “informal lending library” of raw and juicing DVD’s. This one never returned. Hopefully someone was so inspired they kept it. Would love to have one to replace it. The people I lend to are mostly in the 50’s and up age bracket and appreciate a DVD much more than a book. I love this film.

45 A R June 12, 2013 at 10:39 AM

I would like to receive a copy to help inspire and motivate the love of my life. He constantly talks about wanting to change his eating habits, to stop smoking, to exercise, and to lose weight, but to actually take the necessary steps towards these goals, I believe has been difficult or seems like a lot. I love him so much and I hope to spend a long, happy life with him but sometimes I’m concerned about this and uncertain if these changes will happen.

46 Sherri June 12, 2013 at 10:33 AM

This would help so much in sharing this information. My husband & I rarely leave the house so no one is seeing the transformation here & we are not recording it either. Both have lost 40 lbs. my husband no longer takes 5 or 6 shots of insulin per day one blood pressure med gone & more on way he has his 3 mo. check up coming & if it’s as good as the previous 3 mo. check up, it is gonna be amazing. So! You Rock Joe! Everybody REBOOT!!!

47 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:07 PM

Wow that is an amazing change! Definitely go out there and live life to the fullest! Sometimes I stay home too much too, working and have to remind myself to socialize more. πŸ™‚ Love your enthusiasm

48 Jennifer Arent June 12, 2013 at 10:32 AM

I have wanted to watch this movie, but don’t have Netflix nor any video rental stores that havei it. I want to see it so badly and share it with friends and coworkers!

49 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:08 PM

Hi Jennifer, right now you can actually WATCH the movie for free on Youtube at

50 Lori June 12, 2013 at 10:25 AM

Would LOVE to share the movie Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead to all my friends & family, hoping to encourage them towards a plant based diet!! They all like to make fun of my diet, and it would be helpful to have a documentary to show them πŸ™‚

51 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:09 PM

You can watch the whole movie right on youtube right now for the anniversary celebration:

52 Melissa June 12, 2013 at 10:25 AM

I have seen the amazing results first hand from switching to vegan, juicing and sticking with whole plant-based foods. I have yet to watch this documentary, but I am told it is absolutely life-changing.

53 Nick June 12, 2013 at 10:24 AM

I have a BMI of over 40, I sleep with a CPAP machine, I can barely walk becuase my ankles are damaged from all my weight, I tried to go on the vegan live style and lasted about two weeks then binged on McDonalds, I need more than this DVD, I need to be taken away by a vegan expert and rebooted. πŸ™

54 stephanie June 12, 2013 at 10:14 AM

I have never even heard of Joe or ‘Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead’ until just now, and I am so inspired! I just signed up on every link you posted for him. I have been plant-based for awhile, but lately have been lapsing back into vegetarianism and I am just not feeling as well. I am finally getting back into working out after a long lapse due to an accident, so I deceided to go back to plant-based whole foods hard core and incorporate health-renewing and anti-aging nutrients into my life. And talk about timing: believe it or not, my Nutri-Bullet that I ordered should be waiting for me when I get home today!!! I am getting married in February and want to look and feel my best for – and after – the big day! I would also like to share this with my father – who owns several juicers but never uses them (he is 77 and in good health for the most part) so that he and my step-mom (who is 60 and obese) may try to incorporate some healthy and life-transforming foods into their diets. Lastly, I run an emergency homeless shelter, and the agency I work for has undertakern a huge heath and wellness initiative over the past few years. I would love to share this DVD with my staff and residents as someone who “walks-the-walk” and wants to spread the news with everyone I can. Thanks so much, Veronica, for sharing this post today. You and Joe are both fantastic πŸ™‚

55 Gary Bendett June 12, 2013 at 10:14 AM

My family struggles with food addictions especially processed foods and chips. They have been on every diet but can’t seem to stick with one moderate plan for life long success. Diabetes and M.S. are the results of the bad eating habits. I am hoping and praying these tools might save them from ruin. God bless you.

56 Ruth Hawkins June 12, 2013 at 10:05 AM

What can I say, but that I am Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. A year ago I was at 334 pounds and am now at 289. I am diabetic with peripheral neuropathy and worsening eyes, and take 4 medications for high blood pressure. I have become a Non-GMO activist and for the first time in my life have hope of becoming Slim, Healthy, and Vitally Alive.

57 Kathryn June 12, 2013 at 10:01 AM

Great blog post! I have read a bit about Joe, but do not have his books or DVD. I’d love this because I am having a hard time staying and eating healthy way up north where I currently live. I could use this new information to encourage me to try again. πŸ™‚ Great contest!

59 Begered June 12, 2013 at 9:56 AM

Becaus I know so many that are fat sick and nearly dead. I would like to have this info to share and it would be great for me as well to help keep me motivated!

60 Samantha June 12, 2013 at 9:48 AM

I have a girlfriend who is obese and just finished with breast cancer surgery less than a year ago. She also has diabetes and hypothyroidism. I am desperate to help her learn to eat healthy and become motivated to lose weight. So, this will be for her. It’s sad to watch your best friend die slowly before your eyes.

61 Sharon Thompsen June 12, 2013 at 9:44 AM

I have several family members that I am so concerned about because of their over weight and eating habits. I would love to have this video to pass around and hopefully encourage them to change their lifestyles and lose some of their unhealthy weight.
Thank you,
Sharon Thompsen

62 Sandy June 12, 2013 at 9:42 AM

Because I am fat , sick and nearly dead. I can need all the help I can get. LOL No seriously I can use all the help I can get.

63 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:10 PM

You can watch the movie here on youtube during the anniversary celebration:

64 Sara June 12, 2013 at 9:42 AM

I would love to win this DVD so that I can share the ideas with the vast worldwide audience on my blog, help those around me who do not have access to this kind of information, and finally start abusing that Breville juicer I purchased a while back ! Thanks so much for the great opportunity!

65 Carol June 12, 2013 at 9:40 AM

I have been on green smoothies for just over a year now and as of Jan 1, 2013 have cut meat from my diet. I have noticed a tremendous difference in my over all well being. I recently began researching juicing and am adding this to my diet. Slowly but surely, I’m moving my husband in a more “health conscious eating” direction. He’s not much of a fruit/vegi eater but will drink fruit and/or vegi juice daily so this will be a move in the right direction for him. Small steps πŸ™‚

Thank you for sharing!

66 Jerri June 12, 2013 at 9:38 AM

I should win because I would show this movie to every one that I know so that we can all improve our health. Healthy living is meant to be shared.

67 Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica June 13, 2013 at 3:10 PM

You can watch the movie for free on youtube right now for a limited time:

68 Michelle June 12, 2013 at 9:32 AM

From the comments posted to date, I’m understanding that this movie is about juicing.

The first reason why I should win this contest is because I’ve tried juicing a few times in the past and got such horrendous results that I never pursued it. I’d see this as an opportunity to pay attention to any possible learnings and give juicing a second chance.

The second reason why I should win is because we are starting the fresh fruits and veggies season here in upstate New York. This would this be the perfect timing to get the right produce to try juicing again, not to mention support local organic growers.

I work with adults with Mental Illness and Intellectual disabilities. We have been trying to educate to our members to start getting healthy by making better food choices as well as getting active. Adults with MI/ID are some of the unhealthiest people in America, so often due to limited access to healthy foods as well as lack of understanding. Showing films like these will help encourage staff members as well as our membership to start changing their lives for the better.

Oh how this would help me in my journey to become healthier and live longer. I am a new nana to the dearest little girl and soon will be having my second grandchild! So exciting, yet so scary when I think about how unhealthy I am. Joe’s books and videos would be so inspiring to me! I have him on facebook and follow his posts. My mom died over 20 years ago. She was only 58. I’m going to be 57 in a week. I’m scared. I don’t want to follow in my mom’s path. I want to be at my grandchildren’s wedding!!!

I’d love to win so I can add to my lending library! I’ve been vegan now for two years and this is due – in part – to this documentary. I love to spread the word and this would be great to have on hand to share when I run into someone who is even a little interested!

I have various ailments and would love to become healthy again. I do believe that eating right is one of the keys to good health. “Your health is your wealth”.

I am a Certified Nutritional Education Trainer (NET), certified to teach Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s Nutritarian lifestyle and it would be great if I had this DVD to lend to my clients to help inspire them.
